2020 PBA Mock Draft 8.0: Can Alaska and Ginebra find gems again?

Let us pray hard that there will not be a COVID-19 outbreak in the PBA bubble so that our 2020 PBA draft will push through.

Here is our latest version of our mock draft where we consider every potential participant of this 2020 PBA draft, other than those who still have few years in their Collegiate careers and those who have reasons for not joining.

#1 NLEX - Kobe Paras (#1 Last Mock)
The reality is, there is still a chance that Kobe will not be joining the upcoming draft. I will be happy if he chose to play first in International leagues but I think, getting drafted by NLEX will also be a good decision for him.

#2 PHX Sedrick Barefield (#2 Last Mock)
I know that this is more of a dream scenario but I am really hoping that Sedrick will consider joining the PBA, just to see how a good NBA G League player will do in the PBA. Phoenix will be a good fit because they need a point guard.

#3 NLEX - Jamie Malonzo (#4 Last Mock)
A trio of Kiefer Ravena, Kobe Paras and Jamie Malonzo will easily be the most entertaining trio in the league. Although, it will be interesting to see how coach Yeng Guiao will play them.

#4 ALA - Justine Baltazar (#3 Last Mock)
Baltazar remains to be the top target of the Alaska Aces. Joachim Thoss said that he is still considering having one more tournament next year. He will be a good mentor to Baltazar.

#5 DYIP - Troy Rike (#5 Last Mock)
Troy Rike and James Laput will be the options for Columbian because they are in need of a credible starting center. Rike will be the better option because he is more skilled and with his three-point shooting, he will provide spacing for Perez.

#6 MAG - James Laput (NEW!)
If Maurice Shaw can end up as the #2 pick even without good basketball credentials because he is 6'8, Laput will surely be sought-after for being 6'9. He can be the future center of Magnolia.

#7 SMB - Jeremiah Gray (NEW!)
San Miguel should take advantage of this draft and push Gray to join because I think he is not that hyped right now that he can fall in the middle of the draft. With his athleticism and versatility, he has a pretty high potential.

#8 MER - Calvin Oftana (#6 Last Mock)
Cliff Hodge is slowly losing his battle to father time. So, it is time to find his replacement in Calvin Oftana. Oftana is the 2019 NCAA MVP and he has very high potential because of his athleticism.

#9 NOR - Ricci Rivero (#7 Last Mock)
It will be hard for Rivero to continue falling because of his popularity and obvious potential. His athleticism is pretty good and his scoring capacity is high. Northport can easily utilize him as a trade chip for the future.

#10 ROS - Larry Muyang (#8 Last Mock)
Rain or Shine wanted Maurice Shaw in 2019. So, I think they will continue to look for a center in this draft and at this point, Muyang is their best option. He has the size and playing style similar to JR Quinahan.

#11 BGSM - Jason Brickman (#9 Last Mock)
I still think that Brickman is bound to Ginebra. With the age of LA Tenorio, Ginebra will be needing a starting point guard. Brickman could be the best point guard rookie ever with his passing, shooting and handle.

#12 NOR - Santi Santillan (#11 Last Mock)
Northport is the kind of team that is good at drafting bigs. So, they will not waste the opportunity to take a high-skilled big in Santillan. He could be a good balancing-act between Sean Anthony and Christian Standhardinger.
