Is it time for the Mocon-Nambatac to takeover the reigns in Rain or Shine? - 2020 PBA Quarantine Cup Primer
The Philippine Basketball Association is finally on his way to a tournament this 2020! After a lot of hiccups due to the pandemic, they are finally allowed to conduct a PBA bubble in Pampanga this October to December, 2020
So, here is the series of articles that will provide the biggest questions for each team as a primer for the possible return of the league.
Today, our focus will be Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. They are known as one of the independent teams of the league and have crafted a squad that can contend in the next decade.
The biggest question though is, is it time for the Javee Mocon - Rey Nambatac duo to take over?
In the last several years, Rain or Shine gathered a lot of recognizable names to lead their squad. We have the era of Paul Lee and Gabe Norwood. Let us not forget the Beau Belga, JR Quinahan and Jeff Chan trio. This year, their most popular player is James Yap.
At this point though, it is pretty clear that the two guys that are currently on the roster that can lead them in the future are Javee Mocon and Rey Nambatac.
Actually, Mocon and Nambatac already got the playing time last Governors' Cup. Only Gabe Norwood played more minutes than them, not counting the import.
But I actually think they deserved more. They are young and have the modern skills to warrant 30+ minutes every game.
Can coach Caloy Garcia, provide that?
