After 19 straight games in the bubble, the PBA was asked by IATF-EID Technical Working Group and the DOH Advisory Group of Experts to postpone their games for the meantime.
The said combination from the IATF-EID and DOH will need to come up first with its new protocol that the league should abide by before they can continue.
It means that the scheduled end of the elimination round by November 11, 2020 will surely not push through.
At this point, the league is taking the possibility of even pushing the current tournament up to 2021. At that point, the supposed 2019-2020 season will now eat up three years.
To summarize, this was not the decision of Commissioner Willie Marcial. It was the call of IATF.
Thinking about it, I do not understand the point of postponing games when for three weeks now, the bubble has not committed a TRUE POSITIVE result.
It means that the PBA bubble is actually working.
They are also allowing the people inside the bubble to interact, which further invalidates any reason that is connected to stopping the spread inside the bubble.
Unfortunately, this also shows that the tournament will always be at the mercy of the IATF. If there will be a resurgence in terms of the number of cases, there could be a good chance that they will shut down the entire bubble.
