Coach Tim Cone said that Ginebra was aware of the return of Greg but we have not heard anything about the discussion between Greg and the management of the most popular ballclub in the country.
Now, Snow Badua just presented more complications in this story.
He said that Greg is looking to be part of Gilas and that the plan is to sit him out for a year and maybe join Meralco.
The plan to be part of Gilas was expected because Greg revealed in the past that he is really aching to represent our country.
The rumor that he is planning to be part of Meralco by sitting out is questionable because, in the PBA, we do not have Unrestricted Free Agency yet.
His right will remain with Ginebra as long as they are willing to offer a maximum contract because Greg is currently a restricted free-agent, Ginebra has the right to match any offer that Greg will receive.
And Ginebra is of course capable of giving a maximum contract to Ginebra. Even though Mr. Al Francis Chua sounded pissed about what Greg did, I doubt that he will let Greg do what he wants at this point.
In short, trade is the only realistic way for Greg to reach Meralco.
