After almost a year of not having any action in the trade table, the PBA finally announced that they are going to lift the trade moratorium by January 4, 2021!
That means trades will now be accepted by the PBA management, for approval.
Before we reach that day, let me refresh you with the biggest trade rumors that will or will not happen. Let me remind you that these are only rumors. Do not expect that majority of it will happen.
#10 Meralco looking to add talent
Some of the things in our list actually came from their teams. Like this one where coach Norman Black stated that they may need to make moves to go over the hump.
#9 A possible Rain or Shine sell-off
There were rumors that Rain or Shine is planning to leave the PBA. This was already denied by one of the team owners. But as the greats speculators usually say, if there is smoke, there is fire. Even if Rain or Shine is not leaving the PBA, there is a good chance that they will try to cut costs. That means trading their expensive players. Like, Beau Belga was already rumored in the past wanting for a trade, and I am pretty sure he is one of their highest-paid players.
#8 San Miguel's push for young blood
According to coach Leo Austria, his team needs to get younger. Of course, you are already familiar with the #1 young star that they are targeting. But, it is also interesting to speculate the other young guys that they will try to get.
#7 Vic Manuel asking for a trade
This rumor has been alive for a few years now. Fortunately for Alaska fans who want The Muscle Man to remain, he is still with the Aces. Will that remain to be true in 2021? We have heard a lot of Manuel-trades in the past. From an SMB-trade to a Phoenix trade.
#6 Greg Slaughter situation
We just have an update about this one as Greg apologized to the franchise for what happened in the past. Will that result in a contract extension for Greg? We will see. Do not write it in stones, yet. Because reading between the lines, Coach Al Francis Chua is not his biggest fan at this point.
#5 Ray Parks pushing for a trade
Actually, we do not have a recent update about this one but Ray Parks signed a one-year contract last offseason, for a reason. Now that he is again a Restricted Free Agent, he can again try to do the thing that was rumored that he tried to do last year.
#4 Jayson Castro over Ray Parks
Speaking of Ray Parks, one recent clue pointed to him as the chosen successor in the throne of the TNT franchise. According to that post, Castro could be unloaded to another team. To which team will Castro go?
#3 CJ Perez to San Miguel
This is one of the most popular rumors out there that I do not think any PBA fan will be shocked if it happens. The biggest question now in the minds of the majority of PBA fans is, what is the package that Terrafirma will get?
#2 2020 PBA Draft Picks Bonanza
This is a fresh rumor where the King of Buzz told his followers that several teams are already negotiating for draft picks. It speaks a lot about the possible depth of the upcoming draft.
#1 Standhardinger trade to Ginebra or Magnolia
This is the rumor that I do not want to happen. Specifically, I do not want Standhardinger to be traded anywhere because I think, he is on the right team. Although, the rumors are still strong that we will never see Christian again in an orange jersey.
