If not for the Vic Manuel fiasco, the last three to four days in the PBA universe will be eerily silent. Actually, I am shocked that we are only discussing a single superstar at this point.
We are two months away from the draft and according to Commissioner Willie Marcial, a lot of teams are waiting for the full cast of that draft before making moves.
We have a lot of big trade rumors that a lot of people are expecting to materialize this offseason. I am talking about CJ Perez to San Miguel Beermen. The Standhardinger trade bonanza. And just added Vic Manuel sweepstakes.
My biggest fear is that we are going to witness not one, not two but more than three lopsided trades in this offseason.
The calm of the PBA universe in discussing the loud rumors make me believe that those lopsided trades will not end up changing the landscape of the PBA like how the Mahindra-San Miguel trade did.
And I think, that will be bad.
Now that the teams are still in negotiating stages, fans should already be loud against any form of lopsided trades.
If you are a fan of the teams that may be the beneficiary of these lopsided trades, I hope you realize that the worth of the success of your team will forever be tarnished because of those farm team exchanges.
A league without farm teams is way better than the PBA that we are witnessing today.
