PBA Trade Rumors: Why is Ginebra not making a big trade?

There are three teams under the umbrella of the San Miguel Corporation. We have San Miguel Beermen, Magnolia Hotshots and Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel.

This offseason, we already saw San Miguel acquire CJ Perez. I considered Perez as the most promising young guy today in the PBA.

For the camp of Magnolia Hotshots, they shocked everyone when they acquired Calvin Abueva in exchange for Chris Banchero and pick swaps.

On the other hand, Ginebra only did two moves so far. They re-signed Greg Slaughter, giving them again the tallest frontcourt in the league.

And then snug MJ Ayaay from the Free Agents list after the Alaska Aces let him go.

Those are not big moves though. Recent championships tell us that the battle for the crown is all about the talent level of the teams.

So, why is Ginebra still silent at this point?

There is a good chance that coach Tim Cone is trying to battle internally to keep the core as intact as possible.

Coach Tim Cone is an avid believer in continuity in basketball. With continuity comes chemistry. With chemistry, comes good basketball. With good basketball, comes winning.

Although, buzzes are growing stronger about Standhardinger being acquired by Ginebra. A Standhardinger trade though will require Greg Slaughter to be shipped on another team.

Will Coach Tim Cone accept this?
