One of the most shocking results of the latest draft was the fall of Alvin Pasaol to the #9 pick of the Meralco Bolts.
Meralco made the right decision of foregoing drafting one of the available 6'8 centers because of how high the talent level of Alvin is.
In the past few months, coach Norman Black cannot stop talking about Alvin Pasaol. His latest proclamation was that Alvin plays much closer to Noli "The Tank" Locsin than Nelson "The Bull" Asaytono.
The reality, either he is the next bull or the next tank, doesn't matter as long as he will reach the level of one of the two guys above.
Now, one thing though that Alvin may have a clear advantage compared to Locsin or Asaytono, is his charisma.
The guy made UE a must-watch even though they ended up always at the bottom of the standings. That is the level of the magnetic popularity of a Pasaol.
That charisma may turn Pasaol into one of the most popular players in the PBA. I mean, he can easily become the next beloved Pinoy-style basketball persona.
Like the way Philippine basketball fallen in love with Calvin Abueva and Terrence Romeo.
What make Pasaol really interesting is that, Pasaol has the scoring ability and swagger of a Romeo and the hustle and bravado of an Abueva.
Yes, a combination of the two.
