Some fans were shocked when they read from Spin.ph that Ginebra is training a rookie named Ken Sagulo. They did not hear that name during the draft.
They did hear Ken Holmqvist as the #12 pick of the 2020 PBA draft. And that 6'8 behemoth is also Ken Sagulo.
So, why did Ken wanted to use Sagulo, his mother's maiden name, than Holmqvist?
According to coach Tim Cone, Ken is not that familiar with his father, so he would rather use that of his mother, who raised him, together with his siblings.
Now, that is the persona of Ken. Who can he be to Ginebra inside the court?
According to coach Tim Cone, he can be a Joe Devance or at most, one of the most shocking comparisons that coach Tim ever did, he can become the Nikola Jokic of the PBA.
Unfortunately, that is hard to believe because as per the report, they are training him with basic post moves.
Jokic entered the NBA with advanced post moves already. If Ken is starting with basic post moves, I do not think he can ever become elite in post scoring.
Instead of focusing on post scoring, I think Ginebra should focus on improving Ken's three-point shooting.
He already showed a willingness to take three. They just need to empower it.
