Magnolia was the team with the highest number of roster spots. They finally filled those spots with a center, a forward and a guard.
First things first, the decision to sign them this month, together with Jerrick Ahanmisi, surely saved the franchise some six digits in salaries! Kudos to them!
Magnolia signed RR De Leon, their selection in the 3rd round of the most recent draft. RR is a legit 6'6 and he played with UE in the UAAP.
Even though he is a rookie, RR is already 27. And looking at his films, I did not see anything special but I also think that he may have the tool to be a long-term PBA player.
Alvin Capobres is a San Sebastian Stag and was also a draftee of Magnolia, but not in 2020. He was the 32nd pick of the 2019 draft.
Capobres is nothing special in terms of his physical abilities. Although, his strength for his size is admirable and he is a hardworker. Although, he is undersize for a small forward at 6'2.
The most shocking decision by Magnolia is, of course, signing another guard in Loren Brill.
According to coach Chito Victolero, they were impressed with what he showed during his rookie trial with Magnolia.
The saving grace for this decision was the statement of coach Chito that, Loren is a project.
