One trade rumor that swirled last week was that Robbie Herndon was put in the trade block by Alaska and that several teams are interested.
The reality is, that rumor started after I put up an article stating that Herndon will be one of the potential trade candidates for the wing position.
I did not do that because of any insider information. I included him because of my analysis of the current situation of Alaska.
Alaska just loaded up their forward and wing position by signing Gab Banal, an MPBL MVP, and drafting Taylor Brown and Alec Stockton.
Herndon was incredible in the PBA bubble. He played huge for his size and exhibited the ability to handle the ball and score. His defense was also respectable.
That great performance though can also lead to a much higher cost for Alaska moving forward. Contracts will need to be renewed and if a guy is playing well, you need to pay him better.
Alaska though is in financial constraints because of the effect of the ongoing pandemic. We just had news where the company let go of hundreds of their employees.
Thus, it could be a good thing for them to let go of a Herndon.
Robbie is also the kind of player that almost any team can utilized.
