There are a lot of trade discussions that happened behind the scene that fans and even analysts were not aware of.
Coach Tim Cone gave us a glimpse of that when he revealed that Phoenix Super LPG declined an offer from Ginebra to move up to the #7 pick from #12.
Yes, even the glamorous franchises like Ginebra, will have trade offers that will be declined. Why did that happen?
Because they offered it to a team that is actually looking to compete in the PBA. Not like the other squads who are just looking to cash in from the league.
Yes, Phoenix is not a farm team. They are doing their best to put up the best team possible.
Now, that news made me think of what could have been the offer that Phoenix declined?
I think they may have tried to package the #12 and the #13 pick, the first pick of the 2nd round. The potential reason why Phoenix decline this is that they really believed in Larry Muyang as a team-changer for them.
But, what if Phoenix asked for Caperal and the #12 pick? I think this could have been a very interesting offer for Phoenix.
Phoenix could have a Caperal and a Holmqvist in their arsenal. If that happens, they suddenly have a frontline that can actually compete with the Beermen and Ginebra of the league.
