PBA Analysis: Arvin Tolentino should ask a trade out of Ginebra

Arvin Tolentino entered UAAP as one of the golden high school players in the country. A lot of people expected him to dominate.

He did play well but he never met the expectations of the people back then.

The reverse happened last year. He entered the PBA with a lot of questions that even with his high skill level, he fell to the lap of Ginebra.

And he exceeded all expectations in the PBA bubble. His numbers were not mind-blowing at 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 25% 3FG per game.

But what he showed is a versatile game on both ends of the court. He can handle the ball and attack the basket. He can switch to perimeter players.

Here is the problem now about his future, his opportunity to be a starter in the next five years is not that high.

With Japeth Aguilar and Christian Standhardinger, the main frontline of Ginebra is secured in the next five years. I will not be shocked if the moment one of them slows down, Ginebra is already working their way for a much younger top 10 giant.

For the small forward position, Aljon Mariano and the need for three-point shooting will not help him get that much minute in that position.

Stanley Pringle and Scottie Thompson will also need minutes in that position.

So, if Arvin wants to get a real opportunity of being a starter in the league soon, he may want to consider asking for a trade.
