Knowing that there is now a high likelihood that we will begin our 2021 season this month, let me update my ranking.
#12 Blackwater Elite (#12 Previously)
#11 Terrafirma Dyip (#11 Previously)
#10 NLEX Road Warriors (#10 Previously)
With the ongoing issue revolving Kiefer Ravena, NLEX will surely be relying again on the brilliance of coach Yeng Guiao in coming up with a decent season.
#9 Alaska Aces (#8 Previously)
With what I saw in the PBA bubble and with their line-up changes this offseason, it is hard to trust Alaska to even reach the playoffs, without looking at the way they play. They basically traded their top scorer in Vic Manuel.
#8 Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (#7 Previously)
I think, the Beau Belga issue has a good chance to be true. If that is the case, Rain or Shine may have some negative vibes around their team, or trade could disrupt them in the middle of the season.
#7 Northport Batang Pier (#8 Previously)
I am excited to see how Northport will utilize Greg Slaughter as their main guy. Is there a chance that Greg has been underrated in the entirety of his PBA career? We will find out.
#6 Magnolia Hotshots (#5 Previously)
The past month made me realize that the frontline issues of Magnolia are a much bigger roadblock than anticipated. I do not think Magnolia can rely on giving big minutes to a Sangalang-Abueva frontcourt.
#5 Phoenix Super LPG (#6 Previously)
I trust coach Topex Robinson in maximizing a line-up with much better talent than what he had in the PBA bubble.
#4 Meralco Bolts (#5 Previously)
As long as Raymond Almazan is healthy, Meralco has the line-up that can inflict damage to any other five-man line-up out there.
#3 TNT Tropang Giga (#3 Previously)
So, the Ray Parks issue will not be resolved. Expect the #3 to #5 spot to change right away, after I watch a single game from each team.
#2 San Miguel Beermen (#2 Previously)
It seems like June Mar Fajardo will be healthy for next season. That may not be good enough to give them the #1 spot because of the humungous upgrade that Ginebra did.
#1 Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel (#1 Previously)
Ginebra was the champion of the 2020 PBA season. They added the player that can rival Fajardo as the top giant in the league. They gave up someone that was not there in the PBA bubble.
