In a very surprising move, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel put Aljon Mariano in the Unrestricted Free Agency.
It means that Mariano can now sign with any other team that he wants to play for. For full disclosure, Ginebra gave Mariano the right to still get his salary.
Nevertheless, that cannot stop Mariano from playing for another team. Now, if we consider the rumored cracks in the relationship between Mariano and Scottie Thompson, him leaving for another team is a much bigger possibility than people are expecting it to be.
So, which team should offer for him?
San Miguel Beermen
San Miguel is lacking any credible forward in their line-up. They do not have someone who can play both forward positions.
That makes Mariano a must-try for them. Although, he will not help that much with their problem in spacing.
Rain or Shine
Knowing that Rain or Shine is pretty adept with their three-point shooting, they should be more than capable of adding a good defender like Mariano.
Phoenix
Phoenix has a lot of shooters in their line-up. What they may want to add is a proven versatile defender like Mariano.
