There is no question that coach Leo Austria is capable of winning championships in the PBA. His system of grabbing as many superstars as possible to overwhelm the opponent with talent has provided plenty of crowns to SMB.
Other than that, coach Leo is also very good at providing excuses for the bad performances of his heavy-loaded squad.
For this bad tournament, coach Leo said that the problem was chemistry and then defended his decision of bringing in free agents.
This is laughable to me. Yes, the chemistry was an issue but the main reason for that was his craving for superstar talent.
And let me remind you, he also decided to change an import in Orlando Johnson, even though they will only have a few games to build chemistry with Shabazz.
And by the way, Orlando was an above-average import. Shabazz was amazing but as you all saw, chemistry is still important in team basketball.
And if you are an observant fan, you have to realize that SMB is not playing anything special in terms of strategy and tactics.
So, it will be shocking for me if SMB will still retains coach Leo.
Because that will be a dumb move for a franchise with impressive resume.
