PBA Semifinals Prediction: Ginebra VS Magnolia in the Finals?

I am excited about this upcoming semifinals. We are assured of having no-holds-barred competition as the MVP teams will meat the SMC sister squads.

MERALCO VS MAGNOLIA
X-FACTORS
3rd quarter scoring
Tony Bishop
Three-point shooting

Magnolia has a high level of chemistry and superb coaching staff that they are usually very good during the 3rd quarter. Meralco should focus in anticipating counters from Magnolia.

Tony Bishop is not as consistent as Mike Harris. Nevertheless, he can be as impactful. He is a three-level scorer and a capable playmaker that can give Magnolia a hard time.

Three-point shooting is the biggest improvement of Magnolia as a team. If they end up with a much better showing from beyond the arc in this series, they will have a much better chance of winning.

PREDICTION

This is not an easy prediction to make. I think, Magnolia has the personnel to defend Tony. But, I can also see Meralco ending up with a much better showing from beyond the arc.

Overall, I think the experience of coach Norman will come into play and will manage to win the 3rd quarter and win a close series.

GINEBRA VS NLEX

X-FACTORS

Scottie Thompson
Ginebra's bench
Assists

Ginebra is the top team in terms of assists. This has been consistent during the tenure of coach Tim Cone. On the other hand, the Road Warriors are the last. If the difference in this stat is huge, Ginebra will win the series easily.

Scottie showed up in the quarterfinals as the 2nd best player of Ginebra. If he can sustain that form, it can propel Ginebra to the finals.

Bench is a big advantage for NLEX. Not only because of the style of coach Yeng but because of the injury issues of Ginebra. If the bench of Ginebra is not consistent in providing support, this could be a win for NLEX.

PREDICTION
Overall, I can see more paths for Ginebra to win. I do not think NLEX has enough firepower to overcome Ginebra.
