It is quite mind-boggling that TNT Tropang Giga made the first move instead of Barangay Ginebra and Magnolia Hotshots!
Those are the teams that seems to be more in need of a change but they decided to stay with their current roster, for now.
The first question now is, is the trade fair? To properly assess, we need to dissect it to the two trades.
Blackwater-NLEX
Brandon Rosser and Paul Desiderio for Calvin Oftana and Raul Soyud
First things first, is this trade even legal? Desiderio is an unrestricted free agent. That means he is not connected to NLEX. So, why is he being traded to NLEX?
Even with that, how despicable it is to even use his name to try and accomplish a trade when he is currently being cancelled because of the accusation of violence against women?
Also, a Rosser and Oftana swap is fine in terms of value because we need to look at Brandon as a #1 pick and Oftana is of course a young superstar. But, the Desiderio and Soyud trade is one-sided in favor of Blackwater.

Calvin Oftana and Raul Soyud for Gab Banal and Troy Rosario
I think the Soyud for Banal part is fair without putting any advantage on any side. Soyud is a bigman that was develop by coach Yeng Guiao. Banal is a solid 3-and-D who just a year away from his semi-breakout in Alaska Aces.
The Oftana and Rosario side though is clearly one-sided in favor of TNT. Oftana just averaged 17 points in his third tournament and Rosario's highest mark was below 16 points. Knowing that Calvin is younger and have shown a more advance offense, I do not think their value is equal.
OVERALL
It is not a fair deal. But, it will be hard for the committee to disapproved it because of the more dubious trades that they approved in the past.
