It is that time of the year again to talk about the ranking of the head coaches in the league. In this ranking, we weight their historic image of a coach and their recent performance in the PBA.
I decided not to rank the coach of Terrafirma, Blackwater and Northport knowing the image of those teams.
#9 Coach Jamike Jarin
Coach Jamike is a good coach. But PBA is just full of above-average coach right now that their recent performance matters the most.
#8 Coach Jorge Gallent
I also think that coach Jorge is a good one. Unfortunately, he may not be that different to coach Leo Austria in terms of their reliance to June Mar Fajardo.
#7 Coach Frankie Lim
Coach Frankie did a fine job in his first season. I think it is pretty obvious that he can build a good team out of a good roster. The question is, is that his ceiling?
#6 Coach Luigi Trillo
Meralco fans are really hopeful about coach Luigi. I am also looking forward to the kind of team that coach Luigi can create. Always remember that he delivered a championship to Alaska when their roster was not top 5 in terms of firepower.
#5 Coach Chito Victolero
You can call me the biggest fan of coach Chito. I still believe that the talent-level of the roster of Magnolia is the biggest reason of their inability to overcome the other elite teams deep into the playoffs.
#4 Coach Yeng Guiao
Of course, coach Yeng is already a legend in the PBA. His decision to tank the most recent season is the right one. Now, he just need to deliver with his #3 and #4 pick.
#3 Coach Aldin Ayo
Of course coach Aldin Ayo is one of the best coaches in the PBA right now. Truth be told though that he is failing hard in the playoffs. Is he just an elite coach in the regular season?
#2 Coach Jojo Lastimosa
Coach Jojo delivered a championship to the TNT franchise in his first foray to the PBA. I think he has this flexibility in his coaching style that makes him a perfect coach to the very loaded squad of TNT.
#1 Coach Tim Cone
Coach Tim Cone is clearly the #1 team right now. With his emphatic victory against the powerful Bay Area Dragons and his good shot in keeping their Governors' Cup title, coach Tim is just on another level right now.
