That game against Dominican Republic will end up as one of the most heartbreaking losses in the history of Philippine basketball.
The moment Jordan Clarkson got called for his 5th foul, every Filipino felt that the game is about to slip out of our hands. It ended up as 87-81.
Now, I will not be shocked if fans will look for a scapegoat.
Did Jordan Clarkson took a lot of shots? To be honest, he deserved it. The guy was unstoppable in that game. He was unstoppable in getting to the basket.
Is it Scottie Thompson who recorded 5 turnovers? Is it Kai Sotto, who did not even log 2 minutes under the eyes of coach Chot?
For me, I do not think we can put a majority of the blame to any one. It was just a close game that did not went our way.
Actually, there could have been more questionable calls that went against us.
Overall, the team played well. They actually played in a level that is at par with Dominican Republic who played one of the top 30 players in the NBA and with several more NBA players.
