PBA Power Ranking: Top 10 Breakout Candidates!

As the 2023-2024 PBA season has just begun, it’s the perfect time to spotlight the players who are poised to make a significant impact. In this article, we will be introducing the top 10 breakout candidates of the current season. These are the players who have shown potential in their previous performances and are expected to step up their game this season.

From seasoned players waiting for their moment to shine, to young talents ready to take the league by storm, this list encapsulates the future of the PBA. We’ll delve into their past achievements, their potential for growth, and why they’re the ones to watch in the 2023-2024 PBA season.

#10. Tyrus Hill
I love what I saw in their first game this season. If he can keep up his defensive tenacity, that should sustain his playing time. With sustained playing time, his offensive role will be mauch clearer.

#9. Jamie Malonzo
Believe it or not but Ginebra has another player on the doorstep of contending for the Most Valuable Player award. If he can reach the MVP conversation this year, that is a breakout!

#8. Alec Stockton
It seems like Alec will be the starting point guard of Converge and I am not shocked. He is a superb defensive player and with his height, he is an interesting offensive weapon. Let us see if he can sustained the role with his production.

#7. Joshua Munzon
I cannot blame the people who already anointed him as a bust but Munzon is still on the right age of finding his edge in the league and turning around his career.

#6. Rey Suerte
Suerte is a starter in their first game this season. I think, he is ripe to take his game to the next level with a better system and improvement in his game.

#5. Matt Nieto
The rotation of NLEX in their first game was not expected because Matt was given a lot of minutes and he was their starting point guard. He did not blow it out of the water but if he can sustained a big playing then people will anoint him as a breakout player.

#4. Jhonard Clarito
Coach Yeng Guiao can always create a breakout player out-of-nowhere. I do not think Clarito will still be in the PBA at this point but the guy is a hardworker on both ends of the court. If he can sustain his numbers, he could be the next success story of coach Yeng.

#3. Isaac Go
Even though the production and even the eye-test is painting Isaac as not worthy of being a Gilas draftee, I still believed that with his size and his IQ, he could be legit starting center in the league.

#2. Calvin Oftana
With the absence of their top 2 scorers from last season, TNT is reliant on Oftana to take his game to the next level. In their first game, he showed that he can. The only question now is, can he sustain it?

#1. James Laput
James is now the starting center of Magnolia. Although, Sangalang is still their main center. Nevertheless, with consistent minutes and if he has a better offensive game than last year, Laput is bound for a breakout.
