Here is our initial power ranking for the upcoming 2024 Philippine Cup!
#12. Blackwater
They added Rey Nambatac but I do not think he moves that much needles for the ability of this team to contend. Although, we hope that the rumored big trade will not happen.
#11. Converge
In terms of roster construction, Converge should not be in this spot. But knowing their potential goal for this season, this is the perfect place for them.
#10. Terrafirma
Terrafirma has an interesting core to look forward too. If you look at their roster, they actually have enough to hunt for a playoff spot.
#9. Rain or Shine
Knowing coach Yeng Guiao, he will do everything to appear in the playoffs. Unfortunately, Luis Villegas will not be there and without him, their frontline is shallow.
#8. Northport
Northport has a lot of talent in their disposal. The quintet of Joshua Munzon-Will Navarro-Arvin Tolentino-Zav Lucero-Cade Flores is easily the most nteresting young 5 in the league.
#7. Phoenix
Phoenix will now have a chance to prove that they can win without Johnathan Williams. I am interested to see if Ricci Rivero will get bigger minutes in this tournament.
#6. NLEX
With Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser at the 5, NLEX should be able to match-up with any team in the league. I am hoping Robert Bolick will remind us that he is a legit MVP candidate.
#5. TNT
With a healthy RR Pogoy, TNT will have a better chance. But without Mikey Williams and with their shaky and unhealthy frontline, I cannot trust them to a higher position.
#4. Magnolia
If they do not make a big change, why should we keep trusting them as a top 3 contender? Specially with the potential departure of Abu Tratter.
#3. Meralco
Meralco is suddenly one of the biggest frontline this Philippine Cup with Brandon Bates, Raymond Almazan and Norbert Torres. Now that EASL is out of the picture, Meralco will have a better focus to do something special this conference.
#2. Ginebra
Ginebra is in a very interesting situation. They do not have Justin Brownlee again at their disposal. But, they also have a more powerful team in this tournament. Will they finally prove that they can win without Brownlee?
#1. San Miguel
San Miguel is easily the team-to-beat for this tournament. Fajardo could be healthy enough. The supporting cast is humming. Although, they do not have that perimeter-oriented bigman that they can partner with Fajardo, like Boatwright.
