Converge tried to get the big name imports for this upcoming 2024-2025 PBA Commissioner's Cup. Unfortunately for them, they failed to lock-in Dwight Howard or Demarcus Cousins.
Still, Converge managed to snag a pretty big name in Cheick Diallo. Just like Howard and Cousins, Diallo is a legit NBA veteran.
He has 183 NBA games under his belt and played for three teams, namely, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns.
If the report is true that he is their import, it is a questionable choice. Converge do not have a good number of stretch bigs and their main bigman, Justin Arana is an inside operator.
Diallo is not even attempting threes right now. That means, he will not be able to maximized the presence of the four-point line.
Also, it will be hard for the offense of Converge to carry two inside-operators in Arana and Diallo. Also, Diallo is not that special on the defensive end.
Unless Diallo will be a nightmare match-up for 48 minutes, I do not think he is the right fit for Converge.
