Kevin Quiambao Eyes 2025 NBA Summer League—And We Fully Support It
Filipino basketball star Kevin Quiambao is setting his sights on the global stage, with his next goal being a spot in the 2025 NBA Summer League. The Goyang Sono Skygunners forward is reportedly preparing to fly to the United States to train and showcase his talents in hopes of drawing the attention of NBA teams.
According to Basketball United’s Facebook page, Quiambao's plan to chase his NBA dream is very much alive. This comes nearly a year after Snow Badua reported that the New York Knicks had expressed interest in bringing the versatile forward into their Summer League roster back in 2024.
At the time, Quiambao chose to stay in the Philippines and finish what he started with De La Salle University, leading the Green Archers to a runner-up finish in UAAP Season 87. That move showed his loyalty, maturity, and desire to grow his game before taking on the world’s biggest basketball stage.
A Game Built for the Global Stage
What makes Kevin Quiambao’s NBA aspirations realistic isn’t just his size or scoring ability—it’s his passing.
Rarely do we see a 6-foot-8 forward with the vision and creativity Quiambao possesses. His basketball IQ, playmaking instincts, and ability to read defenses allow him to act as a point forward, orchestrating offenses and creating mismatches across the floor.
Those are the types of skill sets NBA teams are beginning to covet more and more—especially in a league that now thrives on positionless basketball and smart decision-making from bigs.
Still a KBL Asset
Quiambao is currently under contract with the Goyang Sono Skygunners in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). His journey in Korea has already helped him adjust to a faster, more physical brand of play and strengthened his résumé as one of the top prospects outside of North America.
Should the NBA opportunity not materialize just yet, Quiambao is expected to return to the Skygunners, where he’ll continue to develop his all-around game against elite international talent.
Supporting a Dream Bigger Than Borders
We fully support Kevin Quiambao’s bold move. It's a decision grounded in ambition, preparation, and a belief that Filipino players can—and should—dream beyond the borders of Southeast Asia.
The NBA Summer League has become a proving ground for undiscovered talent from around the world. Kevin Quiambao, with his elite passing and cerebral approach to the game, deserves to be on that stage.
And who knows? Perhaps it won’t be long before we see a Filipino forward delivering a no-look dime in Las Vegas, turning heads and proving that basketball brilliance knows no nationality.
We’re behind you, Kevin. Let the world see what Filipino basketball is all about.
