PBA Rumors: Terrafirma started their final tournament with a win?

The Uncertain Future of Terrafirma: Will the Sale to Starhorse Happen?

The PBA landscape could be on the verge of a major shake-up with the rumored sale of the Terrafirma Dyip franchise to Starhorse Shipping Lines. However, despite reports of an impending takeover, there is still no official confirmation, leaving fans and analysts wondering: Will the sale really push through?

Terrafirma Stays Silent Amid Sale Rumors

Terrafirma team governor Bobby Rosales declined to comment on the status of the franchise sale, saying that only the PBA has the authority to address the matter. Meanwhile, the PBA Board of Governors has yet to formally discuss the sale, casting doubts on whether the deal will materialize.

Despite the uncertainty, Terrafirma remains focused on its Philippine Cup campaign, as evidenced by their rousing 95-87 victory over Phoenix in their conference debut.

Players and Coaches Focused on the Present

Coach Raymond Tiongco and veteran guard Terrence Romeo made it clear that their focus remains on playing and winning games, regardless of what happens behind the scenes.

Tiongco emphasized staying positive, saying:

"If management changes, they still have to play because that’s their job. So we’ll keep a positive approach every game."

Romeo, who scored 17 points against Phoenix, shared the same mindset:

"Right now, we are still Terrafirma, so we have to give our best every game. We’ll think about what happens next when the time comes."

Will the Sale Finally Happen?

The purchase of Terrafirma by Starhorse needs to be approved by a two-thirds vote from the PBA Board, and with no official discussions at that level, it remains in limbo. If the deal pushes through, Starhorse will take over all player contracts, future draft rights, and even the playing rights of Christian Standhardinger, despite his retirement.

For years, Terrafirma has been one of the most criticized franchises in the PBA due to its questionable trades and lack of competitiveness. A change in ownership could finally breathe new life into the team and make them a serious contender rather than just a revolving door for star players.

For the good of the league, let’s hope the sale happens
