PBA Trade Rumor: Rain or Shine will trade?

PBA powerhouse Rain or Shine is making moves, letting go of rookie Francis Escandor and veteran Mark Borboran as it prepares to upgrade its roster for the upcoming 50th season. The moves come on the heels of the team signing veteran guard Stanley Pringle to a two-year contract as an unrestricted free agent, signaling that the Elasto Painters are serious about their title aspirations.

Escandor, the team’s second-round pick in the last rookie draft, showed promise during his freshman season but couldn't consistently crack the young and athletic rotation of the Elasto Painters. Borboran, on the other hand, ended an eight-year stint with the franchise, leaving Gabe Norwood, Beau Belga, and Pringle as the only veterans left in the group.

Head coach Yeng Guiao said he is always looking for ways to upgrade the team's talent and manpower, especially after they made it to the semifinals of all three conferences last season but ultimately fell short of making a finals appearance. The Elasto Painters are also looking at the talent in the coming rookie draft, although the veteran coach isn't expecting a deep talent pool in the September 7 proceedings.

Guiao has all the right to find a player that is at par with the value of the two late 1st round picks that Rain or Shine have in the upcoming draft. While the draft may not be as deep as some would hope, it still offers the opportunity to add a valuable young player to the roster. Rain or Shine is in a position to compete, and with a new veteran in Pringle and a new draftee, the team will be even more dangerous next season.
