While the PBA is having a blockbuster playoffs, the MPBL is also having a fun start to their season! It is time for me to give you my top 10 championship contender!
#10. Pasay - Pasay has a good start in this tournament and they are led by an MPBL giant in Christian Fajarito. Just like in the PBA, size is crucial in MPBL.
#9. Ilagan - Art Dela Cruz is really thriving in Ilagan as their main offensive hub as he averages 17.3 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 49% FG. He is arguably a top 5 player in the league.
#8. Batangas - I look at Batangas and I see a team full of winning players. But, is that enough to accomplish the mission?
#7. Binan - Laguna has the star power and a clear main scorer in this tournament. Nic Cabanero is producing 16.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
#6. Quezon Huskers - Quezon was the finalist last season. So, they know how to get there. They added a top 15 MPBL player in McAloney.
#5. Cebu - Cebu entered the season with a lot of hype and they are meeting it head-on. I am intrigued about Mark Meneses who is a 6'4 player averaging 18.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 35% 3FG per game.
#4. Caloocan - With Kymani Ladi, Dom Escobar and Kean Baclaan, Caloocan has the star power to get the championship.
#3. Gensan - Remember that in the finals, a team from the South will be there. Gensan is undefeated and a really interesting team. They have a good number of PBA players but they are being led by Eusebio.
#2. San Juan - Michael Phillips will be one of the MVP contender and there is a good argument that he is the Justin Baltazar of this season. He also have enough support with the credible UP quarter behind him.
#1. Abra - At the top though is the defending champion. Just because they are not undefeated, it does not mean that they should not be the favorite.
