The PBA free agency pool is currently holding an interesting piece for teams looking to bolster their backcourt depth. Mike Nieto, who most recently played for the TNT Tropang Giga, is a battle-tested guard/forward with a championship pedigree and national team experience.
With his proven high basketball IQ and physical style of play, several teams could benefit from his services. Here are the top three teams that should strongly consider making an offer to the unrestricted free agent.
#3. Phoenix Fuel Masters
The Phoenix Fuel Masters are in an interesting developmental phase. They have a core of very talented, offensively gifted guards, but they often lack defensive size and physical grit in the backcourt.

Nieto is a three-time UAAP champion who understands what it takes to execute a system. The Magnolia Hotshots have built their identity on grueling, physical, half-court basketball. However, as the league gets faster, Magnolia is facing a glaring issue: they have a good number of aging ball-handlers.
Veterans like Mark Barroca and Paul Lee are still highly effective, but relying on them to carry the heavy minutes through the grueling PBA calendar is risky. Magnolia may want to add a younger, physical ball-handler in Nieto to ease that burden. Nieto's game is practically tailor-made for Magnolia's system.
