#13. Macau
They are playing poorly. I am not really sure why they decided to join again if they will not bring a much better import than what they have last tournament.
#12. Titan
They may not be tanking but the holes in their team are just hard to overcome right now. They do not have enough frontline talent and with 39% FG efficiency, winning will be hard.
#11. Terrafirma
Juami Tiongson the ace player is back. He is averaging 20.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists. With an import that is producing well, Terrafirma should be able to win more.
#10. Blackwater
The advance stats are supporting Blackwater as a serious team. But with their inexperience and with inconsistency from their main local players, it is hard to trust this team yet for a higher ranking. They are last place in assists.
#9. Magnolia
I think some Magnolia fans out there are delirious as they witness the compatriot of LA Tenorio, Jimmy Alapag, start his coaching career with a blistering 4-0 record. Here is an amazing stats right now though. Ian Sangalang is shooting an out-of-this-world 86% in the field!
#8. Meralco
Meralco has kept their core for a while, hoping that their chemistry and system can link themselves again into a championship-run. I think they need to make a change.
#7. Phoenix
There is something about BJ Johnson that could convince me to push Phoenix to the upper echelon soon of this ranking. The guy just do a lot of things very well on both ends of the court.
#6. Rain or Shine
The injured players of Rain or Shine are slowly returning to play. Luis Villegas could tilt the balance of power in the league because he is 6'8, moves well and he is currently hitting 50% of his outside shots.
#5. NLEX
NLEX is the hottest team of the league and with the way they are playing, they deserve to be on the top 5. Now, here is a fun statistical point about them. They are not #1 in Offensive Rating. They are #1 in Defensive Rating.
#4. TNT
TNT is the one that I decided to push out of the top 3. Statistics wise, I am not reading a good number of positive paths for them. And considering the mileage of the team in the last two years, it is much easier to slide them down.
#3. Converge
Other than starting 3-1 with a bad import play, the surge of Justin Arana as their main guy is the reason why I could trust them with this position. Hopefully, Juan Gomez de Liano will breakaway from his efficiency slump soon.
#2. Ginebra
At 1-2 and without Justin Brownlee, it is reasonable to dislodge Ginebra out of the top 2. But we have seen the movie of Ginebra starting bad in a tournament and then winning it all, time and time again.
#1. San Miguel
Even if San Miguel will end up not at the top of their group, it will be hard to convince me to not up them at the top because San Miguel with a top 5 import in a tournament is just hard to defeat 4 times in a 7-games series.
