PBA Team Power Ranking: Ginebra is out of the TOP 5?

 

We have a long break that was dedicated for the Gilas Pilipinas competitions. It is time though to update our ranking because a lot still happened even without a single PBA game played.

 #13. Titan (#13 last ranking) - Titan is in a tight race for the #2 pick. The difference between the #2 and #3 pick could be huge that Titan should realize it. It could mean losing a chance to get a Remy Martin or DJ Fenner.

#12. Terrafirma (#12 last ranking) - Terrafirma has a shot to be part of the playoffs. Unfortunately, they could face soon an issue about the contract of Maverick Ahanmisi.

#11. Macau (#11 last ranking) - According to reports, Chongqui will not be part of the team moving forward. He is their most consistent player.

#10. Meralco (#10 last ranking) - If the buzz are true, Meralco tried to make a trade but nothing materialize. I think the Quinto for Laput trade, if true, is worth analyzing and maybe asking for an additional piece from Magnolia is possible.

#9. Blackwater (#9 last ranking) -

I actually thought of swapping Blackwater and Phoenix because of the sudden departure of the import of Phoenix. Still, it is hard to trust an playoff inexperience team like Blackwater.

#8. Phoenix (#8 last ranking) -  I think a month has passed when we found out that BJ Johnson is not available. We have not heard about their new import.

#7. Magnolia (#7 last ranking) - Magnolia is currently #1 in terms of 3FG%. That is actually a boom-or-bust thing. If that is not legit and their shooting will soon average out, they may even fail to catch up the playoff bus.

#6. Ginebra (#3 last ranking) - It is hard to push Ginebra this low but history tell us that Brownlee is the biggest factor to their conquest. Without him, it is hard to trust them.

#5. Converge (#6 last ranking) - The big 3 of Converge benefited in the Gilas competition as Baltazar, Arana and Juan Gomez de Liano was provided with vital International game experience.

#4. NLEX (#5 last ranking) - NLEX was busy during the Gilas break. It is an indication that they are preparing for a deep playoff run. Bolick was disappointing though with Gilas. Can he redeem himself in the playoffs?

#3. Rain or Shine (#4 last ranking) - The return of Felix Lemetti could be a game-changer for Rain or Shine. Coach Yeng once said that Felix is one of the driver of their fast-pace system.

#2. TNT (#2 last ranking) - I consider dropping TNT out of the top 2 because of the non-availability of RHJ but I do not think any team is deserving to take over the spot from TNT.

#1. San Miguel (#1 last ranking) - I think San Miguel is clearly the favorite now. They are playing well and they do not have any reported issues so far.
