We all know that Meralco operates as a highly serious, competitive franchise. They aren't in the business of rebuilding, but they are also smart enough to recognize a generational draft class when they see one. The Bolts will surely love to have a Top 5 pick to infuse top-tier rookie talent into their established, veteran-heavy core. While they might listen to massive offers, it is highly likely they will hold onto this pick to secure a high-impact player on a rookie-scale contract.
#3. Projected #3 Pick (BWE), held by NLEX Road Warriors
This is where the trade rumors start getting very interesting. NLEX is currently rumored to be restricted from making major trades until the finality of the corporate merger involving the franchise's ownership and San Miguel Corporation. However, that finality could be achieved in the coming months. Once the red tape clears, NLEX could theoretically be utilized in a capacity akin to a farm team in trade negotiations. Imagine a scenario where a powerhouse like San Miguel gets the opportunity to acquire this pick to draft a blue-chip prospect like Kymani Ladi or DJ Fenner. The potential for a blockbuster move here is massive.
#2. Projected #4 Pick, Phoenix Fuel Masters
Phoenix is a legit, competitive team, but their front office has proven they are never afraid to pull the trigger on a massive draft-day deal, with rumors already surfacing about their willingness to move the #4 pick.
#1. Projected #2 Pick, Titan Ultra Giant Risers
At the absolute top of the trade watch list is Titan's projected #2 overall pick. Yes, we have all heard the Giant Risers management publicly state that they are taking this seriously and will not trade the #2 pick. However, the PBA is a ruthless league for new front offices. Titan is still widely viewed as an inexperienced franchise, and mature, veteran-laden teams with aggressive managers will relentlessly try to take advantage of that inexperience. Expect massive, complex trade packages to be thrown at Titan in an attempt to pry this premium pick away. They are the most likely team to ultimately fold to a veteran team's trade pressure.
