It is time to tackle one of the most exciting series in the 2026 PBA Playoffs of the Governors Cup. Rain or Shine and Converge are considered to be the top 2 independent teams in the league. One of them will surely reach the semifinals.
This match-up is considered to be in equal footing because of the success of Rain or Shine in reaching the semis in recent times. While Converge has an obviously better line-up.

Converge have issues on their defense but their offense right now is working really well. They are averaging the most points per game and the main reason for that is that they are also #1 in terms of assists per game. Rain or Shine better have a defensive game plan for the pristine passing of Converge.
On the other hand, Rain or Shine is the top team in forcing turnovers. Now, forcing turnovers do not technically result in limiting the scoring of the other team.
Baltazar is playing out of his mind. He will be the tallest player in the game and he is currently the best defensive player in the league. Watch him play guys on and off the ball, specially on the defensive end. His ability to erase the mistakes of his teammates is just other-worldly. The guy is scorching +30 NET RATING right now! At that rate, Converge can actually have a simple gameplan of keeping him on the game as long as possible!
Prediction
This is a hard one to decide. Coach Yeng arguably chose to play Converge in the playoffs. I think, he did that because he has cards to use. But, I just think the offensive talent of Converge and their better play under the foreign coach will propel the FiberXers to the semis.
