After our first ever trade, two more trades were lock-in yesterday. And it was shocking to see Stanley Pringle, arguably one of the top 3 players in the league, as part of it.
Wait. Let me first clarify that this is a trade in our PSBL, not real life PBA.
What is PSBL? Please READ THIS!
Going back to the trade, let me give my take for each team.
Magnolia Trade: Roosevelt Adams, Brian Heruela & 2020 2nd MAG
Blackwater Trade: Stanley Pringle & Alyn Bulanadi
Magnolia is currently at the bottom of the standings, badly needing a jolt in their rotation. Point guard has been their weakest position. So, acquiring the best player for that position in Pringle, is an acceptable decision.
Although, they gave up a much younger Adams who also has the potential to reach the level of Stanley in a few years. It helps that they managed to acquire another prime rookie in Alyn Bulanadi. Although, Adams is a way better prospect than him.
To get the "yes" of Blackwater, Magnolia also gave up Heruela and a 2020 2nd. That 2020 2nd could turn out to be a huge value because if Magnolia fails to rise in the standing. That could be a top 15 pick.
Overall, Magnolia just fortified their big 3 who are at the prime of their careers.
GRADE: B
BLACKWATER
Stanley Pringle was a random pick for Blackwater. So, it was understandable that they unloaded him because the path of their team is very clear. They want to build for the future. So, exchanging a top 3 player today for a potential top 3 player in the future looks very fine.
What is a little bit mind-boggling is for them to give up a prime rookie in Bulanadi. Although, this could be a tanking move for the Elite, knowing that Bulanadi is currently their 2nd best scorer and player, overall.
So, they basically unloaded their top 2 players and gained the best rookie out there. All pointing towards there plan of getting a top pick in the upcoming draft.
Overall, I think they could have juiced at least one more 2nd or even get a much better deal with another team.
GRADE: C
Here is another deal for the day.
TNT Trade: Paolo Taha & 2020 2nd TNT
Columbian Trade: Allein Maliksi
TNT
TNT wanted more firepower and they will get that with Maliksi. TNT has a pretty deep rotation and with the arrival of Maliksi, scoring points will surely be much easier. Giving up Paolo Taha will not hurt that much with Parks, Jalalon, Dela Rosa and Rosario there to make sure that their defense is still strong.
Overall though, I do not think this trade moves their needle that much. Although, it could be crucial if they reached the playoffs as it magnifies the importance of match-ups.
GRADE: C
COLUMBIAN
In terms of efficiency, Maliksi was doing fine with his role with the Dyip. Although, he is not getting enough playing time for the level of his talent. With the presence of Abueva and Perez, Taha should be a better fit for Columbian.
Getting a 2nd made it much sweeter for them.
