According to the owner, Mr. Dioceldo Sy, they want to make their team more "masa", so they are changing their monicker from Elite to Bossing.
He explained Elite could be hard to understand for an average Pinoy but Bossing is in a way, its Filipino translation. He even said that they will try to contact Bossing Vic Sotto after the pandemic. Vic was the one who made the monicker famous.
This could mean then that his talk with commissioner Willie Marcial of the PBA went well. Even though Mr. Marcial decided not to disclose anything.
So, is Bossing a good monicker for Blackwater?
Mr. Sy was right when he said that the word Bossing is "pang-masa". The problem with it is, it also comes with a lot of ironic questions.
Why are they calling themselves Bossing when their franchise had been linked to a lot of lopsided trades, benefiting a bigger conglomerate? In short, they are not real Bossing. And the reality is, they have a Bossing!
Mr. Sy also looks like a joker when he said in a Spin.ph article related to this news, that this could be the year that they can steal a semifinals or finals appearance.
Because how can he even fathom about a deep-playoff run when he had traded all of his good players, except Mac Belo!
