Finally, it is time to present our top 10 of our Top 100 Players! Just remember that this is for the 2022 season. So, there performance in the current 2022-2023 season are not considered.
To rank them, we used the following criteria.
Scoring (S) - 30
Primarily, this is the ability of the player to score. Their points per game were the primary statistics that were scrutinized but we also give a huge weight on the efficiency of the player. We also factor in the fact that there are a hundred ways to score. So the more ways a player scores efficiently will also increase his points in this area.
Defense (D) - 30
Defense represents 50% of the game for a player. This score will take into account the ability of the player to stop someone, man-to-man. Now, the defense is not all about man-to-man but also about the capacity of a player to work in the defensive scheme of a team. Enjoined in this area is the ability of the player to get rebounds and to help his team control the flow of the game.
Offense (O) - 25
Scoring is the only goal of offense but the other factors that will pave the way for good scoring opportunities will reside in this area. Primarily, this is about the ability of the player to break down defenses and make plays for his teammates. Added to this is the intelligence of the player in making the right plays, reads and positions in helping out the team take a good shot.
Intangibles (I) - 15
There are four other elements of a player that basically form this criterion. They are leadership, chemistry, clutch, and health. Those four are not part of the first three but actually elevate a player. A good example is LA Tenorio. LA is not as valuable as the Tenorio that we know today without his ability to command and his 100% health status.
In the case of ties, they will be ranked according to age with the youngest being the highest. The previous performances of the players were also considered in assessing them.

Are you shocked that Perkins is in the top 10? You can start appreciating him by looking at his stats. In the last three conferences, Jason averaged more than 13 points, 45% FG, 39% 3FG, 7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He is the most efficient versatile scorer in the league.
It is easy to not put any attention on his game because it is not flashy but he is really good. His touch is elite. His spacing is elite. And he utilized this scoring abilities to open shots for his teammates. His versatility also covers the defensive end. With how skilled Jason is, he just need to help Phoenix to get one Finals ticket and I think he will get a shot at a top 5 spot in this ranking.
I will be honest to say that I expected more from Christian even though he is playing in the second most loaded line-up in the league. Unfortunately, coach Tim Cone is not treating him the way coach Leo Austria is treating Junemar Fajardo.
Nevertheless, that also shows how excellent of a teammate Christian produced 14.6 points, 55% FG, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game in the Governors' Cup and they won the championship. Christian has been increasing his offball engagement and has been improving as a playmaker. I wonder what will happen if he can further push his assists numbers to 3.5+ per game this season.
If you are not aware, Mikey was my MVP last season. Then, why is he here at #8? The biggest reason was the contract dispute between him and TNT. Mikey actually violated the contract and he showed that his dedication to his team is far below the level that we expect from a professional basketball player.
Nevertheless, Mikey showcased last season that he is the best scorer in the league. I do think that a healthy Terrence Romeo can go toe-to-toe with him but Mikey may still get the nod because he is way more efficient. He also showed that his scoring is not detrimental to winning as he led TNT to the 2021 Philippine Cup crown.
Pringle slide from his #3 position to #7 as he got hit by a conference ending injury, decreasing his score in the Intangibles. He still put up impressive numbers in the Philippine Cup with 17.2 points, 44% FG, 35% 3FG, 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. But, we all know that Ginebra was eliminated early during that tournament. Pringle also printed his second negative Net Rating in his career during that tournament.
Is Pringle being affected by the pile-up of injuries that he had in the past? That is currently my hypothesis. Nevertheless, Pringle is still a deadly scorer with his pull-up shooting and quick first steps. As long as he can hit those pull-up shots, Pringle will still be one of the top players in the league.
The Beast is back! Calvin was one of the MVP candidate in the previous season and what was really impressive was the fact that he never got into an issue inside the court! Remember that Calvin is still under the microscope and the guy is successful in overcoming it.
Calvin manufactured 15.3 points, 43% FG, 34% 3FG, 9.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Now that he is a tamed beast, Calvin has been more consistent with his production. His defense is also very impressive as his perimeter and inside defense are both very good. Of course, he is the second most impressive rebounder in the league.
Japeth is no doubt the best rim-running center in the league. I actually think that the difference between him and the second best could be the difference between the #1 scorer of the league and the 10th placer. He mastered how to maximize his length and athleticism when he cut and run to the basket. With his length, he can grab almost any pass.
In the Philippine Cup, he averaged 14.6 points, 52% FG, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game. His defense is as reliable as ever. He could be the best help defender in the league and more than capable of stopping giants.
By the numbers, this could be the worst season of Matthew Wright in the PBA in terms of efficiency. He shot worse than 40% in the field and 30% from the beyond the arc. What happened though was that he intensified his playmaking and he even averaged more than seven assists in the Governors' Cup. Matthew just know how to use his height and good handle to find his teammates.
Of course, he was still one of the most effective scorer in the league. He can be the most effective pull-up midrange jumper because of his height. Defensively, he is not that bad because he has the size to switch to different positions.
Robert put up unimaginable numbers in the 2022 season of the league. He was the top assist guy on both conferences and was also the #2 in scoring in the Philippine Cup and #1 in scoring in the Governors' Cup. Overall, he was almost synonymous to unstoppable. He just knows how to maximize his height and quick first step.
Unfortunately, his dominance was not met with victories for Northport Batang Pier. Nevertheless, even without the good record to back it up, the combination of numbers and what I saw during the game made me comfortable to put him as a top 3 player this year,
He will forever be remembered as the guy that stopped the MVP streak of Junemar Fajardo. Unfortunately, my assessment did not put him over Fajardo in this ranking. Although, if Fajardo will not return to his Kraken form and Thompson can have another step forward, he may have a good shot next season.
Overall, Thompson is one of the best rebounder in the league. He is not only the best rebounding-guard in the history of the league. He is already one of the top rebounders in the history of the league. He was #7 in the Philippine Cup and #4 in the Governors' Cup.
Of course, rebounding is not the only thing that Scottie brings into the table. He finally showed a sustained improvement on his three-point shooting. If his efficiency will continue to go up, Thompson's offense will continue to be better.
Fajardo will enter next season with a plethora of challengers that can rightfully steal his throne. This year though, Fajardo will retain it, primarily because of how dominant his MVP reign was. This year though, he was more of a human than a Kraken. He was not assertive as in his past MVP seasons. He was making mistakes that were not usual for him.
Fajardo though, still averaged double-double. He produced more than 13 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block per game. His excellent efficiency was still there and of course, he was still a hard guy to move around inside. Defensively, he is still one of the best in shutting down his fellow giants in the league and can deter a lot of shots from the rim.
